Post 4 - File Manangement

Task One

Assets - Assets are essential to the development of digital media because it makes it easier for the creditor to work with their design.


This Screenshot is an outline editor for all the assets that i have used in my design. Each asset is named after their icon e.g. Camera. Camera is named after the icon because if i was to name it something like 'chair' it would be confusing for me and those who are also trying to help me with the design. Each asset is sorted into different tabs so that everything is easy to find and work with.

This screenshot shows the 3D view of my design and where my assets are placed. The blue mesh is my character and all my other assets are around the blue mesh. The 2 black dots with the sparkles around it are my lamps, i have 1 lamp in the front of the mesh and 1 in the back. This is so my mesh does not have any black patches. The camera is in front of my mesh so that when i review my design it shows the front of my design not the sides or the back.

 For me to make my mesh do i walk cycle i first downloaded a file-image then converted it into an asset. To do this i have just added the file-image into Blender. I then changed to front ortho mode to line up my character with the asset that i have just added.

The timeline is a  big asset to my walk cycle because it allowed me to control how long each frame was going to be and how long i wanted it to go on for.





File Management - File management is also essential to the development of digital media because it helps you keep your files stay organised so that it is easier to access.

This is an example how i kept my files neat. Having this file neat was very effective because not only did i find what i was looking for easily but others did too.

This is another example of how i had kept my files neat. After i took a screenshot of everything that i had needed i saved them into my 'screenshots' folder then named it what i needed it to be.









Task Two

Asset management is very important. because without asset management you can easily get confused with what you're working with. In this screenshot it shows the assets in Outline Editor and 3D view. So in the Outline Editor you can see that i gave it a name after the icon. This is because without a proper name i could easily get confused with what i am working with. It also makes it easier for those who are trying to help me with my design. Giving my assets a proper name was very effective because whenever i needed help people could easily point out what was wrong and told me what to fix up. The assets in the 3D view was nicely spread out so its not so confusing when im working in 'user persp' mode.

File management is just as important as asset management because if your files are not well organised it could take a while to find what you are looking for. For example if you were to name it something completely random and saved it in a random file and your work suddenly goes wrong, you might have to start again or spend a lot of time trying to find where you saved you work.

In this screenshot it shows how to appropriately name your files. The effectiveness of appropriately naming your files is you don't spend a lot of time trying to figure out which file is which.

In this screenshot it shows how not to name your files. Because i had gave my designs random names it actually took awhile to find the up to date piece of work.

Post 2 - Copyright, Creative Commons and Piracy

Copyright

Task One

What Copyright means.
Copyright is the legal right that the owner of the work has, meaning the owner has created or made the work. They are entitled to their own work meaning no one else can copy and use your work without your permission, The only way others can use your work is if they ask you for permission to use it and you say yes.

Rights that the copyright owners have.
Copyright owners have the right to copy their own work, sell copies of their work, have their work performed, played, or shown in public. The owner of the work could also make adaptations to their work and authorize others to do things with it. Countries has different copyright rules. For example in USA it is legal for South Park to take other peoples characters and have them in an episode because they have making a parody of that character. Copyright laws is very different in different counties because they all have different laws.


Creative Commons


Creative Commons is an organization that allows others to share their work without the laws of copyright in their hands. For example if you were on creative commons and you saw a picture that you like, you can just copy it without having to ask the owner of the work if you could copy it, because the owner had put that there for everyone else to use.

Piracy

The word piracy means taking work from other people that they have created and distributing it. Users download illegally because they don't want to pay for item e.g games,movies,music etc. This means that the owner of the work is not being paid.


Task Two

Copyright, Creative Commons and Piracy has quiet a few things in common. For example if a work has copyright license on it, people may not copy that piece of work without your permission, however if they do copy it without your permission it is considered piracy. Whereas with Creative Commons you can download whatever is there but you must refer to the creator of the work and if you don't it would also be considered piracy.
                                                                   
Task Three

MegaUpload and Mega

KimDotCom was the creator of MegaUpload. MegaUpload copyright laws has been breached because people from all around the world had been uploading files such as movies, games, music etc. which is considered piracy. MegaUpload had many special features such as buying premium membership, buying premium membership gives you advantages such as having multiple downloads, higher downloading speed. Another interesting thing that MegaUpload had was the rewarding system. The way that the rewarding system worked is; every time someone downloads a file that you've uploaded, you will receive 1 point, once you've collected enough points you can exchange your points for either premium-ship or real life money (USD). MegaUpload was so popular that so many people were uploading and downloading files and just about everyone was breaking the laws of copyright which led to the shutdown of the website because it was unethical.

KimDotCom was also the creator of Mega. Mega strangely enough is almost exactly like MegaUpload, people are uploading files containing movies, games, music etc. which is considered piracy as well. But, why is Mega not being taken down you may ask? Mega uses encryption keys on the all the files meaning only the uploader knows what the file contains. KimDotCom does not know what the file contains because he does not have the encryption key to decrypted it. Because of this of this Kim isn't illegibly attained to any of the files and the uploader is. Kim is just a web host and isn't liable for the files because he does not know whats in them, neither do those trying to get the website taken down, and because of this there is no proof that there is any piracy going on Mega. So they can not claim that Mega is unethical.

Post 1 - Ethical Dilemma

 Data Chip Implants - By Lukey, Seang, Yashi

What is your subjective response to the ethical dilemma?

I think that there are too many issues with Data Chip Implants, because there are way to many factors to consider  whether this would be an improvement to our society or not. The good things about this device are; it will be easier to track down lost people, find out whether your children are at school or wherever they are, if someone does a crime it will be possible to find them, able to buy things with the information on you hand, able to identify yourself in certain situation such as airports and traffic stops, if you are injured or sent to the hospital they will be able to see your medical history, police could use it in prisons to see the location of the prisoners if they trying to escape. The bad things about this device are hackers can be able to get your information as it is literally on you at all times, your information could be duplicated and sold to someone else and they may pretend to be you, the government can spy on you if you have a bad history and they will be able to track you even if you haven't done anything wrong, viruses may corrupt your data putting in false information on the chip and could harm your health, Big Brother is a concept introduced by George Orwell in the book 1984 Big Brother was a concept which puts people on a tv show 24/7, people could see and watch the life of someone, this obviously is a invasion of privacy and is unethical, it is a form of control which the government can put on people and it has the same ethical issues as the data chip, anyone can be controlled/watched, Panopticon is a system for the design prisons that was introduced by Jeremy Bentham; it stops prisoners from escaping by making them feel like they are being watched 24/7, this concept is basically "are they watching me" and prisoners would never know if someone was in the tower or not, they would be scared and paranoid that if they were doing something wrong they would be seen so they changed their behavior to adjust to the tower, they wouldn't do anything wrong and this is a form of control because it puts the people thinking they were under surveillance even if they wouldn't be, it is another form of control as they would be good even know they were/weren't being watched, being watched 24/7 is unethical and inhumane that's why these prisons are rare in this era as everyone needs privacy. These two concepts are a form of control and unethical 

Who are the stake holders? 

1) In this scenario who might benefit and who might suffer?
    People who benefit from the Chip Implants are the government, hackers and anyone who has a   chip scanner. People who may suffers from Chip Implants are those who gets hacked or those who allows others to scan their chip 

2)  Who would hold the power in this scenario?
The people who would hold the power are people who have in possession of a chip scanner, these people will be able to get your information easily without hesitation. Anyone in government control who has access to these chips and their data would also hold the power in this scenario

3) Could this new technology help to improve or could it worsen the state of society?
 There are both upsides and downsides to this device,  however I believe that the downsides over-weigh the good that this device would have impact onto our society, surely there will be easily to track lost people or people running from the law or buying something just swiping with your hand, but then anyone who knows how the device works could get your information, buy and sell it to others that are interested in it. they could access your life and destroy it and in both ways will improve and worsen the state of society

4) Could humanity as we know it change?
Yes  I believe it could worsen the state of our society because it will increase the rate of crime as it will be easier to access people/shopkeepers information  although the chip could help us in other ways such as finding lost people, and causing people to be reliant on the chip
